Packages

Pricing built from cooperative principles instead of extractive ones. A permanent free tier, a discount for mission-aligned organisations, and transparent cost-to-serve across the board. Higher tiers deliberately fund the lower ones — that's the point, not a side-effect.

Prices are in euros, monthly, excluding VAT. Exit is always free — export your data, delete your account, no penalties or notice period. The full reasoning behind these numbers lives in docs/PRICING_SYNTROPIC.md.

How we price

Four principles, kept honest

Stratification, not hierarchy.

Tiers are niches with different roles, not status ranks. The free tier is a permanent valid home for organisations that just need to draft documents — not a trial that shames you into upgrading.

Reciprocity over extraction.

Value received should match value returned. Money is one form of return; translation work, pattern contributions, case studies, bug reports also count. Up to 100% of the lower tiers can be paid in-kind.

Transparency over opacity.

For each tier we publish what it costs us to serve you. The markup is named, not hidden. Once a year we publish a one-page transparency report: tier mix, revenue, where the surplus went.

Surplus redistribution.

Higher tiers visibly subsidise lower ones. A Sovereign customer at €600 pays roughly half for the product and half for the ecosystem they’re joining. We say so out loud, and we intend to honour it.

The tiers

Five niches, equal weight

No tier is “less than” another. Pick the one that fits your organisation today; switch up or down without penalty.

Seed

groundcover
€0
Costs us about ~€2/month to serve.

Anyone who just wants to draft a few documents — coops finding their feet, individuals exploring, side-projects.

  • Document upload + drafting
  • Templates and Generate
  • EN + PT interface
1 organisation · 3 contributors · 50 documents total

A permanent home, not a trial. We absorb the loss because small orgs become bigger orgs, and because finding bugs at this tier funds the rest.

Commons

mission-aligned
understory
€25/month
Costs us about ~€10/month to serve.

Cooperatives, NGOs, registered associations, research collectives, commons projects. Self-declared on a short signup form.

  • Everything in Seed
  • Document analysis + intelligence
  • Semantic search + insights
1 organisation · 10 contributors · 500 documents · up to 2 extra languages

A contribution rather than a market-rate payment. The €15 above cost is your share of keeping Seed permanent and Sovereign math honest.

Cooperative

productive layer
€60/month
Costs us about ~€20/month to serve.

Anyone, no eligibility check. The default tier for organisations that don’t qualify for Commons or don’t want to self-identify.

  • Everything in Commons
  • +1 paid language of your choice
  • Pay-what-you-can option for genuine hardship
1 organisation · 20 contributors · unlimited documents

Commercially sustainable. Pays its own way and a bit more — the gross margin here is what funds Seed.

Partner

emergent layer
€150/month
Costs us about ~€50/month (incl. €30 LLM) to serve.

Organisations actively chatting with their corpus — agent users, heavy LLM consumption, analytics-driven teams.

  • Everything in Cooperative
  • Conversational agent + pinned context (basket)
  • +2 paid languages of your choice
  • €30/month LLM credits included
1 organisation · 30 contributors · unlimited documents

Higher consumption, higher return. The 2.5× ratio to Cooperative tracks the actual incremental value of the Agent group.

Sovereign

enterprise · negotiable
canopy
€600/month
Costs us about ~€120/month to serve.

Municipalities, consultancies, larger NGOs, foundations. Negotiable above €600 for scope.

  • Everything in Partner
  • Outbound webhooks + LLM-spend observability
  • All seven supported languages included
  • €200/month LLM credits included
  • Priority support + SLA · optional data residency
Unlimited members · unlimited documents

Roughly half the price is the product, half is the ecosystem. Each Sovereign customer roughly funds five Seed customers outright. We say so on this page so you can hold us to it.

Add-ons

On top of any tier

Capture +€40/month

WhatsApp and Signal chat-archive import with consent flow and PII redaction. Available on every tier except Seed because the LLM redaction cost is real. Binary value — either you have group chats to capture, or you don't.

Extra languages +€5/month each

English and Portuguese are included for every organisation. Add German, Dutch, Spanish, French, or Italian for €5/month per language. The fee is calibrated to the marginal translation-token cost (about €2.70/month at typical volume) plus a small margin.

Each tier has a default language allowance (Cooperative + 1, Partner + 2, Sovereign all seven); extras land at the same rate. Cap at the number of languages your audience actually reads — don't pay for what you won't use.

Other ways to pay

Time and expertise count too

Up to 100% of Seed and Commons can be earned through contribution. Cooperative goes up to 50%. Above that, cash keeps the lights on.

Translations
Translate the interface or templates to a new locale. Three months of Commons in credit per finished locale.
Pattern contributions
Submit a template, redaction rule, regime check, or SYFERS pattern that we merge into the product. Credit per merge.
Case studies
Write up how your organisation uses SDI. Published under CC BY-SA. Credit set per piece.
Domain expertise sessions
Help us understand a regulatory domain we don’t yet cover (e.g. Portuguese cooperative law). Hourly credit.
Bug reports that ship as fixes
Per-bug credit, capped to prevent gaming. Real bugs found in actual usage.
Where the money goes

The maths, kept legible

Sovereign customers pay €600/month for something that costs us ~€120/month to run. The €480 difference is not pocketed — it flows along three named lines:

  1. Seed and Commons subsidies. Roughly five Seed customers per Sovereign customer; the maths only closes if higher tiers visibly fund the rest.
  2. Commons-licensed translation work. Locales we commission go up under CC BY-SA so other commons projects (and competitors) can use them.
  3. SYFERS research. Pattern catalogue work adjacent to this product, also published openly.

Once a year we publish a one-page transparency report — tier mix, total revenue, where the surplus actually went. Not a sales document; a check on whether we did what we said we'd do.

Questions

The four that actually come up

Can I move between tiers?

Up or down at any time. No penalty for moving down, no commitment for moving up. Switching tiers takes effect at the next billing cycle; the package contents update immediately so there is no down-time.

What happens to my data if I leave?

Export everything as a single archive (documents + metadata + audit trail) any time, including after cancelling. Account deletion cascades through every table. Lock-in is entropy; we don’t add it.

Who qualifies for Commons?

Cooperatives, NGOs, registered associations, research collectives, commons-licensed projects. Self-declared on the signup form with a short "what we do" statement. We trust first; tighten only if we see abuse.

Does the price include LLM costs?

Up to a point. Partner includes €30/month of LLM spend, Sovereign €200/month. Above that, metered at cost. For Seed and Commons the LLM cost is small enough to be absorbed into the tier price; we publish the actual numbers in the annual transparency report.

Talk to us before you commit

We'd rather have a 15-minute conversation about what your organisation actually needs than sell you a tier you'll grow out of in three months. Existing members can switch tiers from their organisation's admin panel.
